Life Legacy

Attica - Robert Donald Applegate, 88, of Avon, Indiana and formerly of Attica, died Thursday, July 17, 2008, 1:20 a.m. in the Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis.
Robert was born on December 26, 1919 in Attica, Indiana. He was the son of the late William J. and Hazel Marlatt Applegate. He graduated from Attica High School in 1937 and went on to further his education in Chemical Engineering at Purdue University with the class of 1941. Following college he went to work as a chemical engineer at Phillips Petroleum in Bartlesville, OK. After WW II he returned to Indiana and in 1947 started his own business, DriAll, Inc. He designed and manufactured the first continuous flow grain drier.
He was a member of the Desert Mission United Methodist Church in Carefree, AZ and was attending the Avon United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Hennis) Applegate of Avon, IN; three children, Sue A. Applegate (husband-San Vriens), Greenville, SC; William G. Applegate (wife, Lucy Wang), Attica; Jane E. Lee (husband-Bill), Avon, IN; five grandchildren, Ilo and John Applegate; Elizabeth Lee, Zach Lee and Amy Miller (husband-Brandon); two great grandchildren, Brandon and Taylor Miller.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Sunday, July 20th, from 12:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Nancy Richmond officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica.
