Newtown - Allie Lee "Butch" Kerns, 68, formerly of Newtown and had been residing in Lafayette, passed away in the Rosewalk Village of Lafayette, on Sunday, June 23, 2024 at 1:45 a.m.
Butch, as he was known to family and friends, was born in Williamsport, Indiana on August 23, 1955.  He was the son of the late Samuel Clarence and Lorena May (Shultz) Kerns. Butch was raised in Newtown and attended Richland Township and Fountain Central schools.  He later moved to Nicholasville, KY where he drove a semi truck and worked at NAPA.  He returned to Indiana in 2023 and resided with his sister, Carol Burris in Lafayette.
Butch enjoyed watching western shows on television and playing on his cell phone.
Butch leaves behind four brothers, Larry Kerns, Lafayette; Dick "Rick"  Kerns, Poland; Mark (Terri Ann) Kerns, Crawfordsville and David Kerns; two sisters, Terry Slinker, Fishers, IN and Carol Burris, Lafayette; several nieces and nephews; several great nieces and great nephews.
As per Butch's request, cremation services have  been accorded him and a public memorial gravesite service will be held in the Newtown Cemetery, Newtown, IN on Saturday, July 13th, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Mike Parks officiating.
