Attica - Alma Jean (Ryan) Woodruff McMurtrie, 98, formerly of Attica and Frankfort and had recently been residing in Carmel, IN, passed away in the Majestic Care of Carmel on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 10:01 p.m.
Alma was born in Frankfort, Indiana on July 1, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Ansel and Bessie (Arion) Ryan. She was raised in Frankfort, graduating from Frankfort High School in 1942. While living in Frankfort, Alma formerly worked at Pogue Electric. She later moved to Attica in 1971.
Alma was a member of the Attica First United Methodist Church and was a co-founder of the Thrift Shop of the United Methodist Church. She enjoyed doing needlepoint, quilting, gardening and was a care giver to her daughter Rebecca before her passing.
Alma was first married to Clifford Woodruff in Frankfort, IN. He preceded her in death. She later married Rex William McMurtrie on November 6, 1971 in Frankfort, IN. Rex preceded her in death on October 15, 2007.
Alma leaves behind her son, John (Natalie) Woodruff, Brownsburg, IN; a granddaughter, Elaine (Gabriel) Alvarez; four great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Peter, Sergio and Alexander Alvarez; a step son, Bill (Kathy) McMurtrie, Attica; two step daughters, Brenda Vaughn, Lafayette and Aleta (Steve) Gibson, Naperville, IL; a niece, Christina Ryan, Lafayette. She was preceded in death by a son, Samuel S. Woodruff; two daughters, Rebecca and Patty Jo Woodruff; a nephew, David Ryan and two brothers, Robert and Joseph Ryan.
As per Alma's request cremation services were accorded her with a memorial gravesite service scheduled on Saturday, April 29th, at 11:00 a.m. held in the Salem Cemetery, east of Attica.  She will be inurned next to her late husband Rex McMurtrie.
