Attica - Barbara Jane (Shoaf) Black, 64, Attica, passed away unexpectedly in the emergency room of the I.U. Health Arnett Hospital, Lafayette, Indiana on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at 7:07 p.m.
Barbara was born in Williamsport, Indiana on February 4, 1959. She was the daughter of the late Jerry David and Helen Jeannine (Jernagan) Shoaf. Barbara was raised in Williamsport and graduated from Seeger Memorial High School in 1977. She attended Ivy Tech in Lafayette.
Barbara formerly worked at Wabash National in Lafayette for 7 years and later for Harrison Steel Castings Company in Attica for 11 years. She was known for her cooking ability by cooking at various restaurants in Attica.
Barbara enjoyed gardening and canning. Her favorite pastime was the time spent with her grandchildren and family. She enjoyed her weekend rides on the Harley-Davidson with her husband, Walter. She was an avid Purdue sports fan.
On June 17, 1991, Barbara married Walter M. Black in Henderson, KY.
Barbara leaves behind her husband, Walter of 32 years along with four children, Shannon (Andrew) Jenkins, Williamsport; Tiffany (fiancé-D.J. Wray) Howard, Terre Haute; David Wilson, Williamsport and Zach (Renee) Black, Fishers, IN; a grandson, who was raised in the home, Xayden Wilson; a sister, Melinda (Robert) Bradbury, Pine Village; two brothers, Jerry (Sheryl) Shoaf, Jr., Williamsport and Thomas (Tammy) Shoaf, Williamsport; twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Tuesday, September 19th, from 5:00 p.m. until the funeral service at 8:00 p.m. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
