Barbara Jeanette Felty Moyer

Hillsboro -- Barbara Jeanette Felty Moyer, 82, of Hillsboro, succumbed to the ravages of COVID-19 at 10:57 a.m. on 19 December 2020 at Franciscan East Healthcare Facility in Lafayette, Indiana, where she had been a patient since 9 December 2020.
Born 22 March 1938 in Mishawaka, Indiana, she was one of four children of DeVone W. and Elsie Margaret Conner Felty; the others being: Earl Franklin (deceased); DeVone Waldo, Jr. (deceased), and Sharon Kaye. Barb graduated from New Carlisle High School in 1956 and then graduated from Vogue Beauty School in South Bend, Indiana.
Barb met Ed Moyer on a blind date on New Year's Eve 1961. They married on August 11th, 1962 at Lydick United Brethren Church. To this marriage, two children were born: Edward Moyer Jr., b. 17 July 1963; and Margaret Irene Moyer, b. 30 March 1965.
Following their move to Fountain County, where Ed, Sr., came as manager of Wickes Lumber Co., Hillsboro, until it's closing, Ed Jr., and Margaret (Meg) both graduated from Fountain Central High School, while Barb pursued her interests in flea marketing in the area where she made many friends, some of which have endured over 40 years.
Ed Jr's 1st marriage was to Kelly Connerton in 1993 and added two grandchildren to our family. Hannah Marie Moyer was born on 9 July 1998; and Benjamin Edward Moyer on 2 April 2001. They divorced in 2014
His 2nd marriage to Holly Haas in 2020 brought grandchildren, Olivia, Jason, and Ellyssa, plus a great-grandchild Lewis.
Margaret's (Meg's) 1st marriage to Mitchell W. Beck added Mitchell W. Beck Jr. to our family. They divorced. Her 2nd marriage was to Scott Alkire in 1996.
Mitchell Jr., ultimately ended up working in the oil industry in northern Louisiana where he met and married Lacy Gerbine. To that union was born Wylie James Beck, her 1st biological great-grandchild.
Barb was an avid reader of mysteries, a true Star Trek fan of all generations, and one who always loved to hear from and about members of her family. Pictures were always welcome and would always be given a place of honor when received. She also enjoyed working with her flowers and yard during that time of year.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Earl and DeVone Jr., and daughter, Margaret (Meg).
She is survived by husband Ed, son, Ed Jr., daughters-in-law Holly, and Kelly; grandchildren Hannah, Benjamin, Mitchell Jr., Olivia, Jason and Ellyssa, and great-grandchildren Wylie James, and Louis.
Anyone wishing memorials may direct them to the family at PO Box 402, Hillsboro, IN 47949, to help offset final expenses. Barb had wanted her remains to the IU Medical School for research upon her passing, however the School cannot accept donations at this time when death is due to COVID-19. Cremation has been chosen for Barb with a celebration of her life to be held at a later date.
