Attica - Benjamin "Ben" Lee Weiss, 80, Attica, passed away in the Majestic Care, Lafayette, on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 7:35 a.m.
Ben, as he was known to family and friends, was born in Watseka, Illinois on January 29, 1942. He was the son of the late Christ and Caroline (Wustholz) Weiss. He was raised and educated in Cissna Park, IL and later lived in Hoopeston, IL before moving to Attica in 1965.
Ben formerly worked for Frey Tire in Attica and later for Sewell Tire Mart in Williamsport. He later worked at Masterguard in Veedersburg until his retirement in 2009.
Ben was raised in the Apostolic faith in Cissna Park. He loved his time spent gardening at home and raising livestock, which included chickens, rabbits and calves. He like to cut wood for the winter and cherished the time spent on his tractor.
Ben married Joan Brown in Hoopeston, IL on October 13, 1963.
Ben leaves behind his wife of 58 years along with two children, Michele (Richard) Deardorff,  Attica and Benjamin Lee (Karen) Weiss Jr., Attica ; four grandchildren,Richard Lee (Mercedes) Deardorff II,  Kyle (Judith) Weiss, Ashlee (Adam) McHone and Rachel Deardorff; a brother, Albert Weiss and a sister Caroline Rose Hamilton preceded Ben in death.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Wednesday, May 4th, from 12:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Tracy Acord officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery, east of Attica.
