Attica - Betty June (Alkire) Black, 77, Attica, passed away at her home in Attica, with her family by her side, on Monday, August 5, 2024 at 11:46 p.m.
Betty was born in Ehrmandale, in Vigo County, Indiana on September 19, 1946.  She was the daughter of the late Kenneth Earl and Doris June (Wilson) Alkire.  Betty was raised and attended school in Ehrmandale and later lived in Cayuga for most her life.  She later moved to Attica in 1985.
Betty formerly worked at Peterson Puritan Aerosol Factory in Tilton, Illinois for 14 years.  She then worked in the custodial department at Home Hospital in Lafayette until her retirement.
Betty was an avid reader and enjoyed watching cooking shows.
On March 21, 1965 Betty married Walter Melvin Black Sr. In Cayuga, IN.  Walter preceded her in death on October 26, 2022.
Betty leaves behind two children, Ronda (Chuck) DeLong and Walter (the late Barbara) Black, both of Attica; three grandchildren, Mike (Candace) DeLong, Lafayette; Brandi Howard, Attica and Zachary (Renee) Black, Fishers; five great-grandchildren, Michael (Haley) Griffis, Kelsey DeLong; Lucas Howard, Chloe DeLong and Zoey Black; a great great-granddaughter, Paizley; a sister, Helen (Huey) Fyfe, Paris, IL.  She was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Kenneth and Russell Alkire.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Friday, August 9th, from 11:00 a.m. until the service time at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Josh Barnett officiating.  Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
