Oxford - Carl Michael "Mick" Johnson, 89, Oxford, passed away in Cumberland Pointe, West Lafayette on Friday, March 3, 2023 at 9:55 p.m.
Mick, as he was known to family and friends, was born in Lafayette, Indiana on August 29, 1933. He was the son of the late Ethmer Charles and Loretta (Donahue) Johnson. He was a life resident of Oxford, graduating from Oxford High School in 1951.
Mick farmed in Benton County all of his life along with buying and selling farm implements. He was known for his raising and showing of Morgan horses. He enjoyed working on and restoring farm equipment.
Mick married June Ann Gerlach on October 21, 1952 in the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Oxford. June preceded him in death on February 23, 2020.
Mick leaves behind his son, Dennis Michael (Susie) Johnson, Oxford; two grandchildren, Zachary Johnson and Melissa (Grant) Will; six great-grandchildren, Zoey, Bethany and Nolan Goodrich; Madison, Gracie and Hannah Hamelman; a great great-grandson, Brayden Hamelman. He was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Tessa Hamelman and his sister, Thomasita Wesley.
As per Mick's request, cremation services were accorded him and a private family gravesite service will be held in the Oxford West Cemetery, Oxford, IN at a later date.
