Attica - Carol J. (Mellinger) Snider, 86, formerly of Attica and had been residing in Lafayette at Glasswater Creek Retirement Center, passed away in the Mulberry Healthcare Center, Mulberry, Indiana on Sunday, February 11, 2024 at 7:46 p.m.  She had been in declining health for several months.
Carol was born in Danville, Illinois on February 25, 1937.  She was the youngest of six children to the late Cloyd Bishop and Emma Faye (Herr) Mellinger.  She was raised and educated in Perrysville and Attica.
Carol formerly worked as a secretary for the Suttle Insurance Agency in Attica and later as a stay-at-home mother to help raise her children.    She was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.  She enjoyed ceramics and reading.
On September 12, 1959, Carol married George David Snider in Williamsport.  George  preceded her in death on July 13, 1996.
Carol leaves behind two children, Jennifer (Thomas) Maguire  and Jonathan (Brad Davis) Snider; a grandson, Jay Edward (Amanda) Snider; a great-grandson, Preston Snider.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a sister, Mildred Jeanette Mellinger Koleczek and four brothers, Guy, Edward, James and Darrell Mellinger.
Friends may call at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 407 S. Perry St. , Attica, on Friday, February 16th, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral mass at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. David Rasner officiating.  Burial will follow in the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery, Attica.
