Williamsport - Charity D. (Clark) Fleming, 80, Williamsport, passed away at Creasy Springs Health Campus in Lafayette, Indiana on Friday, September 23, 2022 at 2:30 a.m.
Charity was born in LaPorte, Indiana on May 31, 1942. She was the daughter of the late Jefferson and Pearl (Allen) Clark. Charity was raised in Knox, Indiana, graduating from Knox High School in 1960. She went on to Ball State University, receiving her BS degree in Secondary Education in 1964.
Charity's first employment was with the Grand Rapids School in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She then moved to Oxford, Indiana and taught English at Benton Central High School. After leaving the Benton Central School Corporation, Charity resided on a farm in West Lebanon and taught English at the Attica High School until her retirement in 2007. In 1986 Charity moved to her present residence in Williamsport.
Charity formerly attended the Williamsport Christian Church. She was a member of the Red Hat Society in Williamsport. She was associated with the Ball State Mens Volleyball Alumni. She was an avid reader and enjoyed watching and critiquing movies. Charity met her future husband, J. Steven Fleming while attending Ball State University. They were married in North Liberty, Indiana on December 31, 1965. Steven preceded her in death on May 21, 1987.
Charity leaves behind her three children, Eric (Stacey) Fleming, West Lebanon; Jason (Shirley) Fleming, Warsaw, IN and Jennifer (Duane) Baldwin, Williamsport; nine grandchildren, Gabby Fleming, Justin Fleming, Austin Fleming, Konnor Fleming, Kason Fleming, Steven Baldwin, Gage Baldwin and Aleah Baldwin; six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Denny Clark and two sisters, Danna Corey and Dixie Lockridge.
A private family gravesite service will be held in the West Lebanon Cemetery with Chaplain Rich Stoll officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Drama Department of the Attica High School.
