Lafayette - Charla Sue (Stembaugh) Gaw, 68, of Lafayette and formerly of rural Veedersburg, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Lafayette on Friday, January 24, 2025 at 1:17 p.m.
Sue, as she was known to family and friends, was born in Williamsport, Indiana on September 26, 1956.  She was the daughter of the late Charles Delmar and Mildred May (Fox) Stembaugh.  Sue was raised in rural Veedersburg, near Bonebrake Cemetery, and attended Fountain Central High School.  She has resided in Lafayette for the past 24 years.
Sue formerly helped her father and brothers with the mowing and grave  digging of several cemeteries in Fountain County.  After moving to Lafayette, Sue worked in the Bakery and Deli at Payless in West Lafayette.
Sue enjoyed collecting Scooby Doo memorabilia, playing games on her phone and watching "Cops" on television.  She enjoyed listening to Neal McCoy and Elvis.
Sue was formerly married to Gary Mattingly, Jack Anderson and Dale Gaw.
Sue leaves behind a son, Charles Zehel, Scranton, PA; a brother, Randy (Phyllis) Stembaugh, Wingate; five grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by two daughters, Rebecca Lynn Seleksy and Terry Lynn Lister; a sister, Rita Stembaugh and a brother, Charles Lee Stembaugh.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Hillsboro, on Saturday, February 8th, from 1:00 p.m. until the service time at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Greg McDonald officiating.  Burial will follow in the Bonebrake Cemetery, Veedersburg.  Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses.
