Charles "Chuck" Swank, 81, Attica, passed away in the Williamsport Health & Rehabilitation Center, Williamsport, on Monday, April 27, 2026 at 11:15 p.m.
Chuck, as he was known to family and friends, was born in Crawfordsville, Indiana on July 1, 1944.  He was the son of the late Clifford and Marion Benaldine (Suiters) Swank.
As children growing up in Waynetown, Chuck and his brother were quite the pranksters. Their friends never knew when they might find themselves locked in and tipped over in an outhouse, or when they might have apples shot off of their heads with an arrow.  He was a 1962 graduate of Waynetown High School.  Following graduation, Chuck entered the U.S. Army and served in Germany.  He served from 1965-1967 during the Vietnam Conflict.
On August 31, 1968, Chuck married Sandra "Sandy" Sue Bennett in the Attica First United Methodist Church.  Sandy preceded Chuck in death on May 5, 2017.
He was a loving and devoted husband and father. A workaholic, Chuck worked 3 jobs most of his life to support his family. Chuck worked at C & D Battery (as he refered to it, Cheap & Dirty) for 43 years until he retired in 2013.
He enjoyed vintage cars and helping his boys race go-carts. Chuck was an avid baseball fan. Go Cubbies! He thoroughly enjoyed the years that his boys played baseball at Attica High School. Chuck coached both of his sons in Farm League and Little League.   Chuck was forever an IU basketball fan. Bobby Knight was a hero and, in his mind, Mackey Arena should be renamed Shaft Arena, because the refs were on Purdue's payroll.
Chuck loved music. Maybe not the greatest dancer, but when it came to Elvis he NAILED it! He performed as an Elvis impersonator and loved to karaoke. Even just weeks before his passing he was still doing karaoke at the nursing home.
Charles... Chuck... Chucky... Elvis... He answered to all the above. Chuck had an incredible wit. You really never knew what smart-ass remark was going to come out of him. Probably his 2 most famous lines were. "Oh Hell, I don't know!", and he was always "Just about perfect". He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends, especially The Dead Peckers Club that used to meet at McDonald's every morning for coffee.
He leaves behind three children, Lezley (Guy) Hainje, Attica; Eric (Rosene) Swank, Covington and Chad Swank, Delphi, IN; two grandchildren, Renee (Zach) Black and Erica (Grant) Colestock; a great-granddaughter, Zoey Black; his companion, Linda Cruea, Lafayette.  He was preceded in death by a son Scott Swank and a brother Jack Swank.
He leaves behind a legacy of Love. What mattered most to him was his family. He was most proud of his children and grandchildren. His 1 great-granddaughter Zoey Sue was truly the apple of his eye. Although we will be without him, we know in our hearts that he has gone on to better place to join his wife, his son and all the family that have gone before him.
Here on Earth, we will just say... "Elvis Has Left the Building."
As per Chuck's request, cremation services were accorded him and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
