Attica - Dannie Lee Hanthorne, 80, Attica, passed away in the St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis, on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 1:44 a.m.
Dannie was born in Danville, IL on May 1, 1940. He was the son of the late Asa Alton Hanthorne and Wreatha (Harris) Sams. He formerly lived in Kramer and later moved to Attica in 1947. He attended Attica High School
Dannie worked at Harrison Steel Castings Company in Attica from 1959 until his retirement in 2003. He first worked as a fork truck driver and later in maintenance. His final job at Harrison was an inspector in the casting department at the time of his retirement.
He was a member of the Attica Christian Church. He was a former member of the Attica Eagles and Attica Moose Lodges. He enjoyed riding around on his golf cart and mowing his yard. He also enjoyed woodworking and playing with his pet dog, Macey. Dannie enjoyed the time spent with his famly.
Dannie was first married Alma Lucas on May 30, 1959. They were divorced and she preceded him in death on December 3, 2006,
He leaves behind his significant other, Chris Nall of 43 years; five children, Anita (John) Hodge, Lafayette; Daniel (Mary) Hanthorne, Lafayette; Melissa Hall, Frankfort; Acey Hanthorne and Evan Hanthorne, both of Attica; seven grandchildren, Travis (Brandy) Aguirre; Cole (Alicia) Goodnight; Amanda (Adam) Herbert; Michael (Jesse) Hanthorne; Danielle (Drew) Kochert; Brittany Hanthorne and Michael A. Hanthorne; nine great-grandchildren, Gavin, Caleb, Lincoln, Maximus, Trenton, Piper, Rowan, Collins and Isabelle; a brother, Ronnie (Gerri) Hanthorne, Stone Bluff. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Jarrod Hanthorne; a brother, Gerald Dean Hanthorne along with a sister, Cindy Hightower, both preceded in death.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Wednesday, December 16th, from 12:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Hunter Chadwell officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Memorial contributions may be made to the Attica Christian Church. All people attending are required to wear masks and keep social distancing.
