David Leroy Brown, 74, passed away February 6, 2024, at the Kokomo Healthcare Center (Indiana). The family wishes to thank the staff at the KHC for their care of David.

David was born on June 1, 1949, in Lafayette, Indiana, to John S. Brown and Dorothy Wilkerson Brown (deceased) of Oxford, Indiana. David is survived by his brother, John Brown, as well as nieces, Angela Anderson, Tracy VanHook, Karen Shoaf and Kim Reid and nephews, Terry Lockwood, Tim Tarter and Tony Tarter . David's wife, Beverly Rosa Brown, predeceased David along with a brother, Larry Brown; two sisters, Carol Lockwood and Shirley Barton; a sister-in-law, Shirley Brown; a brother-in-law, Dave Lockwood and a niece, Tammy Lockwood.

David married Beverly Rosa Borst in the Attica First Methodist Church on February 26, 1972.

Like his father, David was a life-long mechanic. David opened his own full-service gas station, Brown's Main Street Service in Attica, Indiana, on June 1, 1987. He worked there until he sold the business. Subsequently, David became a Real Estate Agent for (Beverly) Brown Realty until he and Bev retired in 2014.

David served 12 years as Fire Chief of the Attica Volunteer Fire Dept. As well, he coached Little League Baseball and worked with United Way and March of Dimes. He was a member of Fountain County Historical Society, Friends of the Attica Public Library, the Fountain-Warren Chamber of Commerce, and the Attica First United Methodist Church.

David and Beverly helped save for the community the Old Cannon at the Attica Riverside Cemetery. In addition, he and Beverly purchased, to save from becoming a parking lot, the disbanded First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Attica. They later sold the church to designer John Cottrell who renamed it the "Old Church," and it became part of Cottrell Village in Attica.

David loved his community and helped many people over the years. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Saturday, February 10, from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 12 noon, Pastor Dan Jordan officiating. Burial will follow at the Riverside Cemetery, Attica.
