Attica - David "Spanky" Eugene Burris, 77, Attica, passed away in the OSF Healthcare in Danville, IL on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 7:55 p.m.
David was born in Williamsport, Indiana on November 7, 1943. He was the son of the late Carroll Burris and Nellie M. (Suttle) Vilmin. He was a life resident of the Attica-Williamsport area. He attended Attica High School.
David worked as a machine operator for Tee Pak in Danville, retiring on April 1. 2006.
David was a former member of the Attica Eagles Lodge # 2596. He was a member of the "Table of Knowledge" at Robies and Crossroads. He was an avid I.U. sports fan and loved watching his beloved Chicago Cubs and Attica Red Ramblers play. As a fan of the Attica Red Ramblers he was part of "Patton's Pals" cheer block. He enjoyed playing golf and will miss his Monday and Wednesday card games. His favorite enjoyment was watching his grandchildren's sporting events.
On February 3, 1962, David married Patricia L. Stetler in the Attica Church of the Nazarene. Patricia preceded him in death on November 10, 2020.
David leaves behind his three children, Ed (Kim) Burris; Mikki (Kirt) Hubbard and Kevin (Trinella) Burris, all of Attica; five grandchildren, Cody (Ashby) Reifel, Chelsea (Justin) Batts, Katie Burris, Alexis Burris and David J. Burris; three great-grandchildren, Braelyn Reifel, Mason Wilcox and Liam Wilcox; a sister, Terri (Ed) Podschweit, Aurora, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Bobby Dean Burris and a brother, John Marion Burris.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica on Sunday, September 12th, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, September 13th, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Bruce Thornsbrough. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Memorial contributions may be made to the Paws 'n Claws Animal Shelter or the Attica High School Athletic Department.
