Attica - David Lynn Galloway, 77, Attica, passed away in the Franciscan Health East Hospital, Lafayette on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 4:55 p.m.
David was born in Williamsport, Indiana on January 15, 1944. He was the son of the late Carter Jean and Betty Jean (Minnick) Galloway. David was raised in Warren County, graduating from Pine Village High School in 1962. He later moved to Attica in 1963. In 1962 David began working at Harrison Steel Castings Company until 1965. He entered the service and served in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam. He later worked at Myers Steel Fabricating Company in Attica from 1965-1972. In 1973 David began working at Hyster in Danville. The City of Attica hired David to work as a meter reader for the city and later joined the Attica Police Department. He worked as a police officer for the City of Attica for 21 years, retiring as an Assistant Police Chief under Chief Gene Snoeberger in 2007.
David enjoyed music and played the guitar. He played with several different bands through the years. He enjoyed listening to rock 'n roll music of the 50's, 60's and 70's. He also enjoyed collecting all types of music, including 45's, LP's, cassettes and CD's.
David married Carol J. Lucas on November 12, 1965 in the Attica First United Methodist Church.
David leaves behind his wife, Carol of nearly 56 years along with three daughters, Corrina R. (David) Dahl of Chatham, IL and their two children, Clifford & Isaac Dahl; ; Denise L. (Mark) Young, Mishawaka, IN and their two children, Connor & Kara Young; Sherry J. (Micheal) Berry, Lafayette and their two daughters, Jasmyn & Maya Berry; Grandchildren, Jeremy (Evan) Gibbs, Skyler (companion-Hadley) Gibbs and Tasha (Willie) Kerst; great-grandchildren, Lucy Gibbs, John Oliver Gibbs, Mallory (Loren Woolwine) Kerst and Billy Kerst; a great great-granddaughter, Hazel Rae Woolwine; his sister, Sue (Jerry) Johnson, Williamsport.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Thursday, October 14th, from 12:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Dan Jordan officiating. Burial with military honors and police final call will be held in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Memorial contributions may be made to the Attica-Williamsport Evangelical Presbyterian Church. For those attending the visitation and or the services, masks are optional.
