Williamsport - David Henry Poor, 88, formerly of Williamsport died at 6:03 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at the St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis, with family.

David was born at home on January 31, 1938 in Winamac. He was the sixth of nine children of the late Harry and Geraldine (Trapp) Poor. He grew up in Winamac and graduated from Winamac High School before attending Indiana State University. After graduation, he began his teaching career at the Judyville School where he served as a teacher and principal. He later went to Warren Central Elementary and then on to be Assistant Superintendent for the Warren County School Corporation, retiring in 1995.

David married Julia McCabe on October 23, 1968 in the Hickman Heights Christian Church, Attica. She preceded him in death on February 15, 2023.

David had served on the Warren County Council and terms on several boards including the Community Alliance to Promote Education, many scholarship boards, and was 1 of 11 founding members of the Warren County Community Foundation. He was active with Habitat for Humanity where he took yearly trips to help build homes. He was a member of the Williamsport Christian Church, having served as an Elder and Trustee. He loved to golf, bowl and dance. He and his wife Julia loved to travel and wintered in Florida for several years.

Survivors include three sons, Mike (Theresa) Brown, South Carolina, Dave (Sheri) Brown, Williamsport, and Ryan (Erin Clancy) Poor, Indianapolis; daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Brown, Lafayette; three sisters-in-law, Maitlyn Poor and Judy Poor, both of Winamac, and Cindy McCabe, Westfield; eight grandchildren, Aaron, Amanda, Chris, Emily, Lauren, Rachel, Kellan & Liam; and eight great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a son, Scott Brown; four brothers and four sisters.
