Williamsport - David "Smokey" Wayne Beedle, 63, of Williamsport, passed away at his home, with family by his side, on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 1:15 a.m. following a brief illness with lung cancer.
David was born in Lafayette, Indiana on April 8, 1961. He was the son of the late Gerald and Thelma Olive (Burris) Beedle. David grew up in Warren County and graduated from Seeger High School in 1979. He has resided most of his adult life in Williamsport.
David formerly worked with his family business at Beedle's Salvage Yard in Warren County. He later worked as a machinist at TRW in Lafayette. Following his retirement from TRW he worked at TMF in Williamsport as a machinist until his health declined in September.
David was a member of the Moose Lodge # 1482 of Attica and the Auxiliary of the VFW Post # 3318 of Attica. Most people know David by his nickname "Smokey" and knew he liked to speed. He raced stock cars for many years at Chase Raceway near Boswell, amassing many trophies through the years. He enjoyed the outdoors and enjoyed hunting mushrooms and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He also enjoyed boating and skiing on the Wabash River.
David was first married to Kelly Campbell and later married Diana Vessels.
David leaves behind his two daughters, Ashley (Tony) Robinson and Tonya (Ryan) DePugh, both of Williamsport; a step daughter, Nissa (Paul) Myers, Lake Placid, FL; nine grandchildren, Aydin DePugh, Gabe DePugh, Holtyn DePugh, Louie Key, Brandi (Shawn) Luck, Tiffany (Wes) Franklin, Nikki Turner, Johni Shuee and Elizabeth (Valentine) Perez; fourteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard (Dede) Beedle, Crawfordsville and Robert (Joan) Beedle, Attica; two sisters, Marilyn (Alan) Nacke, Battleground, IN and Kathy (Melvin) Collins, West Lebanon. He was preceded in death by his parents, a step son, John Shuee and a brother, Jerry Beedle.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Thursday, January 2nd from 4:00 p.m. until the service time at 7:00 p.m. with Chaplain Clint Fink officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
