Attica - Debra Jean (Hurst) Cole Trueblood, 69, of rural Attica, passed away in the I.U. Health Arnett Hospital, Lafayette, on Friday, February 18, 2022 at 4:28 p.m.
Debra was born in Lafayette, Indiana on November 27, 1952. She was the daughter of Carol Jean (Hiller) Hurst of Attica and the late William Thomas Hurst. Debra has been a life long resident of rural Attica, graduating as Valedictorian of her Pine Village High School Class of 1971. She attended Indiana State University. Debra was presently working at Warren County REMC in Williamsport for the past 37 years.
Debra was a member of the Pine Village Christian Church and enjoyed singing in the choir. She was active in the church, serving as Sunday School Teacher, helping with Bible School and occasionally playing the piano for services. She was Trustee for Pine Township in Warren County. She enjoyed volunteering her services for the Salvation Army. She loved her family and the time spent following her grandchildren in their sporting events and extra curricular activities. She loved her annual tradition of taking a grandchild to a Chicago Cubs baseball game. While in high school she was a member of the Farmers Daughters musical group that performed at local events and church services.
Debra was first married to Steve Cole on July 15, 1972 in Williamsport. Steve preceded her in death on January 11, 1998. Debra later married Gary Trueblood on May 27, 2000 in the Pine Village Christian Church.
Debra leaves behind her husband, Gary of nearly 22 years. She also leaves behind her mother, Carol Hurst, Attica; four children, Patrick (Stephania) Cole, Williamsport; Carrie (Mike) Gossett, Downs, IL; Sarah (Farley) Schalk, Zionsville and Andrew (Jennifer) Cole, Williamsport; two step sons, Noah (Jill) Trueblood, Granger, IN and Nathan (Lindsay) Trueblood, Bondurant, IA; two sisters, Robin (Jack) Foster, Attica and Sandy (Jim) Nern, Somonauk, IL; nineteen grandchildren, Emily Grundy (Cody Kuiper); Joe Grundy, Avery Cole, Aubry Cole, Jack Cole, Eli gossett, Tripp Schalk, Max Schalk, Wyatt Cole, Taylen Cole, Cameron Trueblood, Kate Trueblood, Tatum Trueblood, Maggie Trueblood, Clara Trueblood, Molly Trueblood, Peyton Strefling, Lauren Strefling and Nolan Strefling; two great-grandchildren, Lila Kuiper and Arlo Kuiper. She was preceded in death by her father, William Thomas Hurst and a brother, Billy Hurst.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Tuesday, February 22nd from 4:00 p.m. until service time at 8:00 p.m. with Pastor Paul Stamm officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Rainsville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Debra' s memory to the Salvation Army or to Warren County Helping Hands Food Bank.
