Attica - Delores Elizabeth (Howe) Carter Railey Young, 87, Attica, passed away in the St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis, on Friday, July 26, 2024 at 1:34 a.m.
Delores was born in Phoenix, Arizona on November 14, 1936.  She was the daughter of the late Carl and Margaret Ann Howe.  Delores was raised and educated in Arizona, where she worked for the Sperry Company in food services.  She later moved to Kansas where she lived for several years until moving to Attica in 2001.  While living in Attica she was a frequent visitor at he Crossroads Restaurant and developed many friendships with the local citizens.  She never met a stranger.
Delores was first married to Thurman Dennis Carter and following his passing married Dennis Railey.  After her second husbands passing she married Charles Young.  All three husbands preceded her in death.
She leaves behind locally her granddaughter, Kristina (Bret) Rasmussen, Williamsport and a grandson, Jerry (Beth) Riley, of Alabama.  She leaves behind five children, Wanda Nowicki, Kansas; Delores Mullins, Oklahoma; Tammy Belleville, Arizona and Thurman Carter, Washington and  Rose Platt, Arizona.  She has several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five children, Deborah Riley and her husband Gerold "Jerry" Riley, Elizabeth Johnson, Thurlenna Borton, Sandy Carter and Virginia Wright.
As per her request, cremation services were accorded her and a celebration of her life will be held  in the Cold Springs Cemetery near Veedersburg on Friday, August 30th, at 11:00 a.m..
