Attica - Dema Jane (Stafford) Freeman, 75, Attica, passed away in the IU Health Arnett Hospital, Lafayette, on Monday, March 25, 2024 at 4:40 p.m. with her husband, children and granddaughters by her side.
Dema was born in Williamsport, Indiana on April 19, 1948. She was the daughter of the late Samuel E. and Lila Mae (Trott) Stafford. She was a life resident of Attica where she attended Attica High School.
Dema was a stay-at-home mother to help raise her children. She later worked cleaning local residents homes. Along with her husband, she assisted in working on taking care of the family farm. She later worked in the kitchen of the Harrison Hills County Club.
Dema attended the Attica Free Methodist Church. She was active in the community serving as a girl scout leader. She served on the Potawatomi Committee for several years during its operation in Attica. She was a former member of the ASK (Area Sharing Kindness). She had served on the St. Vincent Hospital Guild by working in the Gift Shop at the hospital. She was an avid Purdue Basketball fan. She enjoyed the birds, trees and working in her flower beds.
Dema married Glen Robert "Bob" Freeman on September 25, 1965 in the Attica First United Methodist Church.
She leaves behind her husband, Bob of nearly 59 years along with two children, Sandra Kay (Kim Ballard) Freeman, Attica and Bradley "Brad" (Karmen) Freeman, Attica; three grandchildren, Whitley (Kalyn) Synesael, Attica; Bailey (Cameron Synesael) Freeman, Attica and Rylee (Logan Samuels) Freeman, Attica; six great-grandchildren, Brynlee Synesael, Branson Synesael, Berklee Synesael, Adler Synesael, Effie Synesael and Harlyn Synesael. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Thomas Stafford.
A private family service for Dema will be held at the Maus Funeral Home in Attica with a private family burial in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Memorial contributions in memory of Dema may be made to the Paws 'n Claws Animal Shelter in Attica.
