Attica - Dennis Ray Holycross, 60, Attica, passed away at his home on Monday, July 6, 2020 at 9:15 p.m. surrounded by his family.
Dennis was born in Danville, Illinois on November 15, 1959. He was the son of the late Ralph Edward and Octavia Jean (Williford) Holycross. He was raised in Attica and later moved to Tab. For the past 14 years he has resided at his home in Rob Roy. He was a 1978 graduate of Benton Central High School.
Dennis was formerly employed at Harrison Steel Castings Company in Attica. He worked in the Core Room and later as a fork lift driver. Before he became disabled he was working in the stripping department at Harrison Steel.
He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also liked to attend auctions. He loved working in his yard and watching WWF wrestling. He liked to watch the NFL and his favorite team was the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was affectionately known as "Dough Boy" while working at Harrison Steel, a name that he used for his CB handle.
Dennis was first married to Gail Lynn Jones on February 6, 1982 in Judyville, IN by Rev. Charles B. Anderson. She preceded him in death on April 9, 2017.
Dennis leaves behind two sons, Stephen R. (Courtney) Holycross, Crawfordsville and Ryan S. (fiancée-Diann Smith) Holycross, Independence, IN; his fiancée-Terrietta Mowery, Attica; a sister, Ellen (Scott) Peterson, Rainsville; four grandchildren, Harriett Marie Davis, Dean Ryan Wilson, Renee Ashley Holycross and Anna Louise Holycross. He was preceded in death by a brother, Kent Holycross; former daughter-in-law, Melissa Sue Holycross; a nephew, Troy Holycross and a niece, Jessica Collins along with his parents.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Friday, July 10th, from 5:00 p.m. until the memorial service time at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Charles B. Anderson officiating. Social distancing would be highly recommended and appreciated by the family.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
