Stewart, IN - Donald "Don" "Bunk" Lee VanLaere, 88, formerly of Stewart in Warren County and had been residing in Fowler, IN, passed away in the I.U. Health Arnett Hospital, Lafayette on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at 3:13 p.m.
Donald was born at home in Jordan Township of Warren County, Indiana on October 28, 1931. He was the son of the late Peter and Della Mae (Johnson) VanLaere. He was a life resident of the Stewart community in Warren County. He was a 1949 graduate of Williamsport High School.
Donald was a farmer all of his life. He enjoyed watching sports and his two favorite teams were the St. Louis Cardinals in baseball and the Indianapolis Colts in football. His trademark was chewing Red Man tobacco.
Donald leaves behind a sister, Helen Criswell, Rossville, IN; two nephews, John Howard and James Howard; four great-nieces and three great-nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Florence Howard.
As per his request, cremation will be accorded and a memorial gravesite service will be held in the Salem Cemetery, east of Attica at a later date. He will be laid to rest with his parents.
