Attica - Donald "Don" Eugene Scheurich, 88, Attica, passed away in the Williamsport Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Monday, November 1, 2021 at 10:01 p.m.
Don was born at home in Champaign County, Illinois on August 30, 1933. He was the son of the late John A. and Helen (Oakes) Scheurich. He was raised in Covington and graduated from Covington High School. He moved to Attica in 1957.
Don formerly worked at Guffman's in Attica and later making a career of being a service technician for Indiana Bell and later Ameritech Phone Company. He worked for 36 years as a technician for the phone company until his retirement.
He was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Attica. He was an avid woodworker. He enjoyed the time that he spent riding his Gold Wing motorcycle with his wife Betty. He liked to bowl and bowled on Tuesday Night Young Couples League at Shawnee Lanes. He adored the time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
On November 29, 1952, Don married Betty JoAnn Purple in the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Covington. Betty just recently preceded him in death on July 18, 2021.
Don leaves behind five children, Donna Perry, Attica; Rosemary Smith, Attic; Scott (Jeana) Scheurich, Lafayette; Paul (Jaci) Scheurich, Attica and James (Lynn) Scheurich, Attica; a brother, Kenneth Scheurich, Covington; five grandchildren, Angela (Ernie) Black, Crystal (Brian) Niccum, Andrew Scheurich, Nicholas Scheurich and Brittany (Adam) Noggle; eight great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Monday, November 8th from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. A Rosary Service will be recited at the funeral home at 11:15 a.m. A funeral mass will be held at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Attica at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. David Rasner officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Attica. Memorial contributions may be made for Masses or the St. Francis Xavier Church Ramp Fund.
