Attica - Donald "Don" Eugene Mitton, 84, Attica, passed away in the Franciscan Health East Hospital, Lafayette on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 3:25 p.m.
Don was born in Veedersburg, Indiana on March 9, 1938. He was the son of the late Robert and Margaret (Dill) Mitton. Don lived most of his life in Attica where he worked at Harrison Steel Casting Co. as Superintendent of the Cleaning Room until his retirement in 2022.
Don was an avid I.U. sports fan.
On February 21, 1970, Don married Nancy A. (Miller) Thompson in Crawfordsville, IN.
Don leaves behind his wife, Nancy of nearly 53 years along with four children, Mark (Brenda) Mitton, Williamsport; Jeff (Lisa) Mitton, Lafayette; Mark Thompson, Crawfordsville and Debra (Les) Groleau, Williamsport; a sister, Judy Clawson, Attica and a brother, Mike (Rhonda) Mitton, Attica. 13 grandchildren, Amber Ray, Travis (Courtney) Blankenship, Taylor Thompson, Krystal (Jared) Kessler, Stephanie (Martin) Gerlech, Jarrica (Adam) Berger, Nicole (James) Crain, Nathan Mitton, Joshua (Paige) Mitton, Kimberly (fiancé-Jerry Sullivan) Mitton, Meghan (Devin) Grant, Staci (James Clinton) Key; Kelli (fiancé-Josiah Wigley) Ward; several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sons, Kevin Mitton, Brad Thompson an infant son Brian Mitton and a grandson, Troy Holycross.
The family has decided to do a private gravesite service in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica, with Pastor Terry Chase officiating.
