Attica - Dora Lorene (Turner) Eller, 97, Attica, passed away in the Williamsport Health and Rehabilitation Center on Friday, April 22, 2022 at 5:10 p.m.
Lorene, as she was known to family and friends, was born in Busseron, Indiana in Knox County, on December 22, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Russell Thomas and Edna Fern (Hupp) Turner. She was raised in Tab and graduated from Williamsport High School in 1942,
Following graduation, as the WW II was escalating, Lorene hopped a train for Virginia and joined in the war efforts by working as a bookkeeper with the government. Her job was with the payroll department and she helped with the discharge of the veterans from the war. After returning to Attica, she began working with the Attica Telephone Company until 1950. She then became a stay-at-home mom, raising her three sons until 1968 when she went to work as a tester with RMC. She retired from RMC in 1986.
Lorene was a long time member of the Attica Christian Church. She enjoyed working crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She was an avid sports fan, following the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, Indianapolis Colts and a die hard fan of Indiana University Hoosiers basketball teams. She enjoyed watching her sons in sports and keeping statistics of their games.
On September 3, 1949, Lorene married Lee E. Eller in Williamsport. Lee preceded her in death on May 3, 1977.
Lorene leaves behind her three sons, Thomas (Rhonda) Eller, Williamsport; Gregory (Cindy) Eller, and Robin Eller, both of Attica; three grandsons, Josiah Eller, Eric Eller, J.D. Green;a step grandson, Ryan Johnson;  four great-grandsons, Alexander & Jonas Eller; Dr. Michael and Bradley Green; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Rosella Wilson, Ernestine Moody, Betty Lucas and Phyllis Kirby.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Wednesday, April 27th, from 12:00 p.m. until the service time at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Hunter Chadwell officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Attica Baseball Association.
