Ovarian Cancer has reduced Our family’s voice to a mere whisper from Heaven. Elizabeth Ann Garriott-Max-Shoaf passed away Monday August 24th in her home. Elizabeth known as “Libby” to friends and family has always been a Warren County farm girl. Libby was born at home on the family farm at the Y on the Independence Blacktop on July 18, 1939 to parents, Perry and Frances Stovall-Garriott. Libby was a 1957 graduate of Pine Village School where she excelled in Home Ec, Business classes, and cheerleader for 6 years.
Libby Married Richard K. Max in December of 1957 and had three children, Sheryl L. Max of Pine Village, Michael R. Max (Robin) of Lafayette, and William J. Max (Paula) of Pine Village. Libby took great pride in using her Business knowledge to help support her family outside of the home. Libby worked at Purdue University, Ross Gear, Pine Village School, and Miles Farm Service for 27 years before she retired in 2014. Libby was an avid reader and enjoyed putting puzzles together, doing crafts, and going to Flea Markets and yard sales. Libby participated in the Warren County Master Gardener Club acting as President for several years. Libby loved working in her flower and vegetable gardens and enjoyed sharing their bounty with family and friends. She was known for her Award winning Zucchini Relish and Dutch Apple pies. Libby was an accomplished seamstress for her three children, herself, and others. Libby had 6 Grandchildren, George Garrett (Lafayette), Frances Jordan (Greg) Independence Kansas, Kenny Max (Katie) Lafayette, Ashley Hockema (Jordan) West Lafayette. Cory Max (Brook) Williamsport and Cassie Rater Pine Village. 8 Great GrandchildrenElise Jordan, Ava and Nolan Max, Hailey Hockema, Isaiah and Oliver Max, Allison and Emily Rater. Libby was preceded in death by her parents Perry and Frances Garriott, her brother Richard Garriott, both husbands, Richard Max and Paul Shoaf. Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Thursday, August 27th, from 12:00 p.m. until the service time at 1:00 p.m. with Brenda McIntosh officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Village Cemetery, Pine Village, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the Seeger High School Athletic Department.
