Veedersburg - Ellee Mae (Shoemaker) Carpenter, 64, formerly of Veedersburg and had been residing in Kingman, passed away in the emergency room of the Franciscan Alliance Hospital, Crawfordsville on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at 9:36 a.m.
Ellee was born in Danville, Illinois  on August 3,1961.  She was the daughter of the late Herbert and Frances Ann (Rahm) Shoemaker Jr.  Ellee has lived most of her life in Veedersburg, graduating from Fountain Central High School in 1981.  She had just recently moved to Kingman.
Ellee had worked as a bus driver for Head Start in Fountain County for over 20 years.  She later worked at Masterguard in Veedersburg for 12 years.  More recently Ellee was working in the optical department of Walmart at Crawfordsville until her failing health.
Ellee had formerly attended the Church of God in Veedersburg and more recently been attending the Sterling Christian Church in Veedersburg.  She enjoyed playing bingo and liked to ride her moped.  Her greatest joy was the time spent with her family and doting over her grandchildren.
On January 19, 1991, Ellee married Richard L. Carpenter in Covington, IN.
She leaves behind her husband, Richard of 35 years along with four children, Michael (Danielle) Shoemaker, Owosso, MI; Mary M. Cornelio, Kokomo, IN; Faith L. Carpenter and Derek R. Carpenter, both of Kingman; two  brothers, Henry Daniel (Glenda) Shoemaker, Veedersburg and Arthur Bruce (Alice) Shoemaker, Covington; 16 grandchildren, Abagail, Sarah and Katie Shoemaker; Natanael, Ethan and Isabel Garcia; Cruz and Benjamin Cornelio; Ryliegh, Braelynn, Trinity, Averie and Austin Carpenter; Haiden and Audrian Shoemaker; one grandchild and a great-grandchild are on the way and expecting soon.  She was preceded in death by a sister, Denise Rahm and a brother, Herbert Shoemaker Jr.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Hillsboro, on Saturday, January 31st from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.  Following the visitation at the funeral home ,there will be a celebration of Ellee's life held at the Sterling Christian Church, 701 S. Sterling Avenue, Veedersburg at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor David Sims officiating.  Memorial contributions may be made to the family to offset funeral expenses.
