Attica - Ellen Lynn (Holycross) Peterson, 60, rural Attica, passed away unexpectedly in her home on Monday, January 15, 2024 at 2:14 a.m.
Ellen was born in Danville, Illinois on July 27, 1963.  She was the daughter of the late Ralph and Octavia Jean (Williford) Holycross.  She was raised in Warren County near Tab and graduated from Benton Central High School in 1981.  She has resided in rural Attica since 1992.
Ellen worked as a custodian and teachers aide at Seeger Memorial High School.  She was very proud of her family and especially enjoyed the time of with her grandchildren.
On July 18, 2003, Ellen married Scott Peterson in Williamsport.
She leaves her husband, Scott of 21 years along with a son, Derrick (Jessica June) Collins, West Lebanon; a step daughter, Leslie Peterson, Williamsport and a step son, Duane (Emily) Peterson, Veedersburg; six grandchildren, Charlee Dillon, Adalyn Peterson, Everett Peterson, Jeremiah Peterson, Isaac Collins and Faith Collins.  She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jessica Lynn Collins and two brothers, Kent and Dennis Holycross.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Sunday, January 21st from 12:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. with Brenda McIntosh officiating.  Burial will follow in the Rainsville Cemetery, next to her daughter, Jessica.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Paws 'n Claws Animal Shelter, P.O.
