Lafayette - Elnora Lucille (Stetler) Hoover, 87, Lafayette, passed away in the Creasy Spring Health Campus, Lafayette, on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at 2:00 a.m.
Elnora was born in Independence in Warren County, Indiana on May 10, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Charles A. and Lucille D. (Fix) Stetler. Elnora was raised in Warren County between Pine Village and Independence. She was a 1952 graduate of Pine Village High School. Before moving to Lafayette in 1964, Elnora worked as a sales clerk for the Sam Newmark Clothing Store in Attica. After her move to Lafayette, Elnora began working as a supervisor for college placement at Purdue University. She later worked as a scheduling supervisor for the Purdue Memorial Union. In all, Elnora worked at Purdue for 30 years.
On July 7, 1956, Elnora married John E. Hoover in Attica. John preceded her in death on December 4, 2013.
Elnora was an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church in West Lafayette. She was active in the children's ministries of the church, serving as a Sunday school teacher to first and second graders. Elnora and her husband John taught toddlers and served in Vacation Bible school crafts. She was a member of the "Great Banquet" community in Lafayette. She also loved being with her Friday morning brunch group.
Elnora leaves behind her son Charles (Rebecca) Hoover, Nashville, TN; two sisters, Janet Schmidt, Oxford and Ruth (Leo) James, Gardner, KS; two brothers, Norman "Mick" (Victoria) Stetler, Templeton and Stephen (Debra) Stetler, Lafayette; a sister-in-law, Molly Stetler, Lafayette. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Elaina Dawn Hoover and two brothers, Charles "Bud" Stetler and Denny Stetler along with her parents.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Saturday November 20th from 11:00 a.m until the service time at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Daniel Berry officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenbay Cemetery, east of Attica.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church or the Lupus Foundation.
