Attica - Ernest "Ernie" Leon Carr, 86, Attica, passed away at the home of his nephew, Gerald Hutts, in Attica, on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at 8:00 a.m.
Ernie was born in Sterling, Indiana on April 1, 1936. He was the son of the late Troy Russell and Mattie (Groves) Carr. He was raised in Sterling and attended school in Veedersburg. He lived several years in Remington before moving to Attica 10 years ago.
Ernie formerly worked as a tree trimmer for MG Gilbert Tree Service in Chesterton, IN. He later worked for the Indiana Highway Department in Remington, IN until his retirement.
Ernie had been attending the Attica Free Methodist Church in Attica. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends.
Ernie leaves behind several nieces and nephew including his nephew, Gerald (Crystal) Hutts, of Attica with whom he resided with; his brother, David (Geraldine) Carr, Attica. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Eugene, Marx and Donny Carr along with seven sisters, Dorothy Oxley, Judy Pickett, Alice Ridge, Lucy Rahm, Patricia Hyland, Hazel Hutts and Helen Polok.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica on Thursday, January 5th, from 12:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Jerry Badgley officiating. Burial will follow in the Rockfield Cemetery, Veedersburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with expenses.
