Williamsport - Eugene "Gene" Gregory, 78, Williamsport, passed away in the Franciscan Health East Hospital, Lafayette on Sunday, July 2, 2023 at 11:52 p.m.
Gene was born in Slavens, McCreary County, Kentucky on March 31, 1945.  He was the son of the late Leonard and Odell (Gregory) Gregory.  He was raised and educated in McCreary County, Kentucky, moving to Indiana in the early 1960's.  He lived for a short time in Attica and later moved to Williamsport where he resided since 1971.  He worked at Harrison Steel Castings Company in Attica as a welder until his retirement in 2007.
Gene was an outdoorsman and enjoyed camping and hunting in his early years and was a life long fisherman.  He was raised in the Baptist faith.
On February 20, 1971, Gene married Linda Kay Jernagan.  Linda preceded him in death on June 25, 2019.
Gene leaves behind two daughters, Selena (companion-George Sparks) Gregory, Kentland, IN and Melanie (Larry) Sells, Westfield, IN; a son, Leonard Gregory, Crawfordsville; seven grandchildren, Colten & Shaylen Gregory; Maddy Sells; Annette (Justin Rottler) Hyde, Lisa (Jason) Hayes, Garrett Sparks, Katie (Eric) Brown; twelve great-grandchildren; a great great-granddaughter and a great great-grandson; a sister, Lois (Silas) Gregory, Slavens, Kentucky.  He was preceded in death by five brothers, Elmer, Roy, Ernest, Elbert and Homer Gregory.
A joint memorial gravesite service for Gene & Linda will be held in the Highland Cemetery, Williamsport on Saturday, October 21st at 12:30 p.m. with Chaplain Rich Stoll officiating.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Foundation or the American Heart Association.
