Rockville - Gary Lee Valangeon, 77, Rockville and formerly of Portland Arch and Attica, passed away in the Union Hospital, Terre Haute, IN on Friday, August 9, 2024 at 2:59 a.m.
Gary was born in Danville, Illinois on December 16, 1946.  He was the son of the late Andre Valangeon and Margaret (Richards) McCain.  Gary was raised in Westville, IL and later moved to Portland Arch in 1961.  He had formerly lived in Attica and for the past two years resided in Rockville.
Gary worked as a supervisor of the foundry at Harrison Steel Castings Company in Attica.  He worked at Harrison Steel for 47 years until his retirement.
Gary served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.  At the time of his honorable discharge he had attained the rank of Private.
Gary attended the St. Paul Christian Church in Linden, IN.  He was a member of the American Legion Post of Crawfordsville; life member of the Rockville V.F.W. Post; member of the Attica Moose Lodge # 1482; member of the Rockville AMVETS Post # 61.  He enjoyed the outdoors where he loved to fish.
On November 26, 1970, Gary married Dianna L. Albert in the Assembly of God Church in Attica.
Gary leaves behind his wife, Dianna of soon to be 54 years.  He also leaves behind four sisters, Tina (Leroy) Tibbett, Fran Swenson and Tracy (Lester Winters) Shuman, all of Covington; Robin (Fred) Short, Union City, OH; a brother, Mark (Irene) Valangeon, Arlington, TX; several nieces and nephews.  Gary was preceded in death by a sister, Debra Voorhees and a brother, Michael Valangeon.
Services for Gary will be held at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Friday, August 16th at 12:00 p.m. withe Pastor Mary Hollis officiating.  Burial with military honors will be held in the V.A. National Cemetery, Danville, IL.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O Box 758516, Topeka, KS    66675-8516.
