Attica - Gerald "Jerry" Edward Peterson, 82, Attica, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Monday, December 26, 2022 at 7:00 a.m.
Jerry, as he was known to family and friends, was born at home in Attica, on October 16, 1940. He was the son of the late Charles Bernard and Dorothy Elizabeth (Skelly) Peterson. He was raised in rural Attica, graduating from Attica High School in 1958. He formerly worked for United Airlines in Chicago and later moved back to Attica to help his father farm in the Logan and Davis Townships of Fountain County and the Liberty Township of Warren County in which he resided for the past 46 years. He enjoyed raising horses and cattle.
Jerry was a member of the Attica First Lutheran Church. He was a former member and past president of the Attica Lions Club. He was a member of the Belgian Draft Horse Association. His favorite time was spent with his family and grandchildren, where he enjoyed tormenting and teasing not only the young grandkids, but also the older ones too. In his pastime he enjoyed visiting with others and sharing his stories.
On January 4, 1964, Jerry married Lois J. Armour in Forest Park, IL.
Jerry leaves behind his wife, Lois of 58 years along with three children, Kim Peterson, Terre Haute, IN; Tim (Vickie) Peterson, Indianapolis and Dale (Michalina) Peterson, Attica; three sisters, Jacqueline (the late-David) Brier, Attica; Rosemary (Mike) Layton, Attica and Linda (Andy) Smart, Attica; six grandchildren, Drake Hagerman, Audrey (Wayde) Reisinger, Carole (Jordan Ross) Hagerman, Ella Peterson, Libby Peterson and Molly Peterson; two great-granddaughters, Kennedy and Charli; a special aunt, Jeannine Quirk, Newtown and 23 nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Friday, December 30th, from 11:00 a.m. until the service time at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Mike Crawford officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Memorial contributions may be made to the Attica First Lutheran Church.
