Williamsport - Glen E. Beckett, 65, Williamsport, passed away in the Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL on Monday, April 26, 2021 at 8:35 a.m.
Glen was born in Williamsport, Indiana on February 26, 1956. He was the son of the late Maurice E. "Kick" Beckett and Marjorie (Pribble) Beckett. Glen was a life resident of the Warren County area, graduating from Seeger High School in 1974. Glen later enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served from 1977 until his honorable discharge in 1981. At the time of his discharge, Glen had attained the rank of Sergeant.
Glen formerly worked as a carpenter for the Carpenter's Local Union # 215 in Lafayette. Prior to that he worked as an over-the-road truck driver. In his early years he helped his father and uncles farm in Warren County.
He was an avid woodworker. He enjoyed collecting model trains. He was an avid sports fan and the Chicago Bears was his favorite team. He enjoyed Indy car racing and attended over 47 consecutive Indy 500 races with Mario Andretti as his favorite driver.
On March 29, 2003, Glen married Trudy J. Chinn in the Hickman Heights Church.
Glen leaves his wife, Trudy of 18 years along with a step-daughter, Melanie Maynard, West Lebanon and a step-son, B.J. (Regina) Maynard, Gibsonburg, OH; a sister, Kris (Ed) Jones, Lafayette; six grandchildren, Dylan, Brice, Delaney, Heather, Brittnay and Cody along with three great-grandchildren, Colton, Hunter and Raley; a nephew, Kory Jones and a niece, Katie Jones, both of Lafayette. He was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Beckett.
Friends may gather at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Saturday, May 1st from 3:00 p.m. until the service time at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Darlene DeHaai officiating.   A military service will follow the funeral service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Rossville Cemetery, Rossville, IL.  Memorial contributions may be made to the family for final expenses.
