Attica - Grace Ellen (Rector) Parson, 88, formerly of Danville, IL, passed away at the home of her daughter, Violet Crippin, of Attica, with her family by her side, on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at 2:24 p.m.
Grace Ellen was born in Marshall, Indiana on August 3, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Nathaniel and Bessie Violet ( Kiger ) Rector. Grace Ellen was raised in Danville, IL where she attended Danville High School. Grace Ellen married William Parson on November 30, 1956 in Danville, IL. William preceded Grace Ellen in death on October 21, 2009. After William’s passing, Grace Ellen moved in with her daughter in Attica in 2010. She worked as a stay-at-home mother to help raise her family. Grace Ellen enjoyed playing bingo. She liked to join her husband on camping, fishing, and hunting trips. She was an avid card player and enjoyed playing yahtzee with her family. She and her husband enjoyed attending auctions. She leaves behind six children, Frank Parson, Danville, IL; Serena (Larry) Mikel-Danville, IL; Sherry (Donny) Tinder, Tilton, IL; Violet (Brian Thompson) Crippin, Attica; John (Sherry) Parson, Danville, IL and Thomas Parson, Danville, IL; a special grandson, Doug Crippin, who helped his grandmother Grace Ellen with several projects along several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant son, William Parson and adult children, Wesley Parson and June Davis; three brothers, Orville, Fred and Thomas Rector; five sisters, Mary LeFever, Dora Stacey, Carolyn Crippin, Marolyn Parson and Louise Harper. As per Grace Ellen’s request, cremation services were accorded her and a memorial gathering will be held at the South Side Church of Christ in Danville, IL on Friday, August 21 from 2:00 pm. until 3:00 p.m. with a celebration of life at 3:00 p.m. CST.
