Attica -Hazel Juanita (Riley) Ransom, 96, Attica, passed away in the Williamsport Health & Rehabilitation Center, on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at 5:45 p.m.
Juanita, as she was known to family and friends, was born at home in Attica, Indiana on June 13, 1928.  She was the daughter of the later Forest and Marie (Schmidt) Riley.  Juanita was raised and educated in Attica.  She worked as a housekeeper for local families in the Attica community.
She had attended the Attica Free Methodist Church.  She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W. Post # 3318 of Attica; member of the Ladies of the Moose Lodge # 1482 of Attica.  She enjoyed gardening and watching her grandchildren in sports and school activities.  She was a Chicago Cubs fan and Purdue mens and womens basketball fan.
On March 30, 1956 Juanita married Warren Eugene "Gene" Ransom in Attica.  Gene preceded her in death on April 27, 2001.
Juanita leaves behind her daughter, Brenda (Roy) Griffis, Attica and a son, Randy (Sherry) Ransom, Williamsport; a nephew, Jim Haley, Attica; three grandchildren, Michael (Haley) Griffis; Matthew Griffis and Kelsey Griffis; four great-grandchildren, Lucas, Kayleigh, Oliver and Aubree; a great great-granddaughter, Paisley.  She was preceded in death by four sisters, Betty Alter, Fanny Haley, Mildred Anno and Frances Lewis.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Friday, December 6th from 12:00 p.m. until the service time at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Josh Barnett officiating.  Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Paws 'n Claws Animal Shelter.
