Attica - Helen B. (Spanger) Lee, 91, formerly of Attica and had been residing in Creasy Springs Health Campus in Lafayette, passed away peacefully in the Creasy Springs Health Campus on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at 7:40 a.m.
Helen was born in Edwardsport, in Knox County, Indiana on January 22, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Frieda (Albrecht) Spanger.  Helen was raised and educated in Edwardsport, later moving to Attica in 1960.  She has resided in Attica until her recent move to Lafayette.
Helen formerly worked at Radio Material Corp. in Attica and later in the Attica Elementary School Cafeteria.  A devoted woman of faith, Helen worshiped her Lord and Savior at Attica Christian Church, where she actively served in various ministries.
Helen married Robert Edward Lee on April 10, 1954 in Westphala, IN.  Robert proudly served in the U.S. Air Force.  He preceded Helen in death on January 28, 2016.
Helen and Bob raised three children, Steve (Helen) Lee, North Judson, IN; Randy (Wendy) Lee, Lafayette and Jill (Bill) Rungaitis, Massillon, OH; She was a cherished grandmother to seven grandchildren, Christopher (Darcy) Lee, Tyler Lee, Rob (Mercedes) Lee, Casey Lee, Jessica (David) Deery, William (Teresa) Rungaitis and Kristen (Joshua) Brower; and a beloved great-grandmother to Ava, Evie, Liam, Henry, Emma, Declan and Sterling.  Helen grew up in a large and loving family with five sisters and one brother.  She leaves behind two sisters, Edna Berry, Linton, IN and Gertrude Rush, Crown Point.  She was preceded in death by three sisters Elfrieda Fields, Dorothy Shake and Martha Hammelman along with her brother, Walter Spanger.
Helen found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved playing the card game 500 with family and friends, and was known for making jello pops for her grandchildren when they came to visit.  Her grandchildren fondly remember visits to Crossroads and Wolf's candy store, and crossing Highway 41 for their favorite treat-an apple swirl ice cream cone.
Though we grieve her passing, we are comforted in knowing that she is now with her Heavenly Father.  Truly, all is well with her soul.
Friends may call at the Attica Christian Church, 411 E. Sycamore St., Attica, on Saturday, June 21st from 11:00 a.m. until the service time at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Hunter Chadwell officiating.  Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Attica Christian Church or the Hanging Rock Christian Campground.
