Hillsboro- Henry Sandoe Jr, formerly of Muncie and more recently from Hillsboro, passed away at the Wellbrook of Crawfordsville on Saturday June 4, 2022, following a lengthy illness. Junior as he was called by family and friends was born in Muncie on July 3, 1952. He was the son of Henry "Red" and Millie Sandoe.
He was raised in Muncie and Eaton graduating from Delta High School in 1970. Henry started working at an early age delivering papers for the Muncie Star. He progressed on to jobs at ETO Manufacturing, Shuttleworth's Construction, Farm Bureau Co-op and Eastside Wrecker, where he worked as a wrecker driver during the Blizzard of 1978. He retired from Element, formerly Sherry Laboratories in 2015 after 18 years of service.
Junior was a former member of the Sons of American Legion Post 19. He helped coach numerous baseball and softball teams in the Muncie and Eaton area. His passion was automobiles. He raced stock cars at the local speedway over the years. He built and restored numerous classic cars throughout his life, including two 1923 T-Buckets that he enjoyed showing in car shows. Junior enjoyed watching sports of all types, model railroading, fishing and especially spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-granddaughters.
He leaves behind: his wife of 50 years, Tammy (Bodenhafer) of Hillsboro, two daughters Tessa Sandoe of Hillsboro, and Angela Shamp of Otterbein, a son Henry Scott Sandoe of Muncie, grandsons Scotty Sandoe, Thomas Sandoe, and Gabriel Warrick, a granddaughter Abigail Warrick, great-granddaughters Taylynn an Amira Sandoe. He is also survived by a sister Kathy Reynolds (Marvin) of Portland, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and adopted family members. He was proceeded in death by his parents, a sister Carolyn Davis, two infant siblings and a nephew Travis Davis.
As per his request cremation services were accorded him and a memorial service will be held Saturday June 18 at 1 pm at Old Town Hill Baptist Church in Muncie. Visitation will begin 1 hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations be made to Paws and Claws Animal Rescue of Attica, Indiana.
