Kramer - Herbert "Herb" Louis Larson, 83, of Kramer, passed away in the Williamsport Health & Rehabilitation Center, Williamsport, IN on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at 2:34 p.m.
Herb, as he was known to family and friends, was born at home near Kickapoo Falls in Warren County, Indiana on March 21, 1942. He was the son of the late Edgar Lawrence and Emma Marie (Kerkhove) Larson. Herb was a life resident of Attica, graduating from Attica High School in 1960. While in high school, Herb worked at Bracken's Mobile Station. After graduation he began as an auto mechanic for Barker's Motors in Attica. He later worked for both Francis Pritscher and Carl Scott at Pritscher-Scott Car Dealership in Attica. Herb later entered Mechanic Tech School in Chicago, receiving education to help him in his field of auto mechanics while working at Pritscher-Scott Auto Dealership. He then began a short career as an insurance agent with Western & Southern Life. The automotive service still tugged at his heart and he went back to Pritscher-Scott Car Dealership and worked as Service Manager. He later worked for H & M Auto Parts in Attica and finally settled in as parts manager for T & T Auto Parts, later Car Quest Auto Parts Store in Attica, where he retired on September 1, 2002.
Herb was raised in the Lutheran Church in Attica. He enjoyed the outdoors where he enjoyed hunting antelopes in Sundance, WY with his wife's uncle and cousins and later traveling to North Dakota to hunt pheasants. He enjoyed his trips to Wisconsin with his brother, Richard to fish. He enjoyed camping with his wife and going deer hunting. He was an avid bowler and bowled with his wife on a couples league and on a men's league at Shawnee Lanes. He was a former member of the Attica Jaycees; active in Habitat for Humanity, where he helped to build four homes in the Warren and Fountain County area. He was a 50 year member of the Eagles Lodge # 2596 of Attica; 50 year member of the Pine Village Lodge # 315 F. & A.M.; former member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Terre Haute.
On October 7, 1967, Herb married Janice A. Smith in the Williamsport Christian Church.
He leaves behind his wife, Janice of 58 years along with his brother, Richard Larson, Williamsport; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by two sisters, infant Gladys Ann Larson and sister Mary Jo Gibson and her husband, Edwin Gibson; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Larson.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Tuesday, November 11th from 11:00 a.m. until the Masonic Service conducted by the Pine Village Lodge # 315 at 1:00 p.m. A celebration of Herb's life will follow at 1:15 p.m. with Pastor David Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Memorial contributions may be made to the Paws 'n Claws Animal Shelter, Better Way Food CO-OP in Williamsport or to the charity of one's choice.
