West Point - James "Jim" William Martin Sr, 86, West Point, passed away at his home with family by his side on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at 8:25 p.m.
Jim was born in Lafayette, Indiana on August 28, 1935. He was the son of the late Robert L. and Verna D. (Long) Martin. Jim was a life resident of the West Point community. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He had attended the West Point United Methodist Church. He was a member of the F.O.P Lodge # 492.
Jim farmed all of his life in Wayne Township in Tippecanoe County and Davis Township in Fountain County, Indiana.
On September 19, 1954, Jim married Nancy Lee Lank in Brookston, IN. Nancy preceded him in death on June 25, 1997.
Jim leaves behind a daughter, Jennifer J. Heazeltine, Lafayette; two sons, James W. (Debra) Martin Jr., Sarasota, FL and David A. Martin, Riverside; ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn M. Eaglehoff and Carol I. White along with five brothers, Robert "Bob" A. Martin; Harry "Cliff" C. Martin; Claude "Bud" B. Martin; Russell "Donny" D. Martin and Kenneth "Kenny" L. Martin..
A public gravesite service will be held in the West Point Cemetery on Saturday, May 21st at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the West Point Volunteer Fire Department.
