Williamsport - James "Jim" Leroy May, 86, Williamsport, passed away in Countryside Meadows, Avon, on Friday, May 26, 2023 at 6:30 p.m.
Jim was born in Warren County, Indiana on July 15, 1936. He was the son of the late Burges Raymond and Jessie Alice (Rector) May.   He lived most of his life in Williamsport, graduating from Williamsport High School in 1955.  Following graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served until his honorable discharge in 1959.  At the time of his discharge he had attained the rank of Corporal.
After returning home he began working for Rieth-Riley Construction Company in Goshen, IN.  Construction was his passion and worked with Rieth-Riley until his retirement on February 28, 1998.  After retirement, he retired to live in Arizona until just recently moving back to Indiana.
He was a life member of the VFW Post # 3318.  He was very proud of his service and prouder that he served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
On April 4, 1958, Jim married Linda Bell in the Williamsport United Methodist Church.  Linda preceded him in death on June 11, 2005.
Jim leaves behind his son, Dean (Larisa) May, Lebanon, OH; a grandson, Colton May; two granddaughters, Lacey and Jessi May; a sister, Lucille Cowgill, Phoenix, AZ.  He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lily May; two brothers, Robert & Dean May; four sisters, Juanita Kane, Mary Schlosser, Grace Walters and Stella Wolfe.
A memorial gathering will be held at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Saturday, June 10th, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.  Following the gathering a gravesite service with military honors will be held in the Highland Cemetery, Williamsport.
