Attica - James Larry Robertson, 73, Attica, IN, passed away in the I.U. Health Arnett Hospital, Lafayette, on Monday December 14, 2020 at 7:31 a.m.
Jim was born in Glasgow, Kentucky on January 8, 1947. He was the son of the late James L. and Mary Alice (Morgan) Robertson. He was raised in Glasgow, and at the age of seven moved to Dayton, IN where he played baseball, basketball and ran track. His senior year he attended Wainwright High School and was the first graduating class from Wainwright in 1966.
Following school, Jim entered the U.S. Army and saw action during the Vietnam War. He served in Alpha Company, Second of the 27th Wolfhounds, 25th Infantry Division, serving in Cu Chi Vietnam. While in the service, he was awarded two bronze stars and the Purple Heart for meritorious achievement in ground operations against hostile forces. At the time of his honorable discharge, he had attained the rank of Specialist.
Jim was self employed contractor owning Robertson Construction Company in Attica. Before going into the construction business, he worked at Eli Lilly in Lafayette.
While living in Dayton, IN, Jim served on the Dayton Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 52 and a life member of the V.F.W. Post # 3318 both of Attica. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #1482 of Attica and various antique car clubs in the area. He was an avid corgi dog lover. He was a dedicated grandfather and workaholic.
He was formerly married to Brenda Kay Delaney and later to Jolene Todd.
He leaves behind his daughter, Dawn Robertson (husband-Michael Kokoska), Charlotte, NC; a son, Brett (Angie) Robertson, Flora, IN; two grandchildren, Hayden & Adalyn Robertson.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica,IN on Monday, December 21st from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 22nd at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jerry Badgley officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Dayton Cemetery, Dayton, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post # 52, V.F.W. Post # 3318 or the Paws 'n Claws Animal Shelter. All people attending the visitation or services are required to wear masks and social distance.
