Attica - Jayne Ellen (Leaf) Markstein, 61, Attica, passed away in the St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 11:08 p.m. as a result of complications from her recent surgery.
Jayne was born in Frankfort, Indiana on August 3, 1960. She is the daughter of Jimma L. (Swearingen) Leaf of Attica and the late Ronald Allen Leaf. She was raised in Crystal Lake, IL, graduating from Crystal Lake High School in 1978. She later attended Missouri Western University. She had lived in Georgia and later moving to Williamsport until settling in Attica in 2015.
In 1980, Jayne married Glenn Kirk Markstein in Crystal Lake, IL. Glenn preceded her in death on May 8, 2000.
Jayne enjoyed traveling and fossil collecting. She also enjoyed collecting dolls, going to auctions, crafting and she extensively studied her family genealogy.
Jayne leaves behind her son, Adam Benjamin Markstein, Fishers, IN; her mother, Jimma Leaf of Attica; a brother, Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Leaf, Phoenix, AZ; two nieces, Kaitlyn (Todd) Leaf-Liston and Amanda Leaf; two nephews, Ryan Leaf and Scott Leaf. She was preceded in death by her father, Ronald Leaf; a daughter, Sarah Markstein and a brother, Steven Bradley Leaf.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Saturday, August 21st from 12:00 p.m. until the service time at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Gary Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
