Williamsport - Jennifer "Jen" Rose (Riegle) McMurtrie, 39, Williamsport, passed away at her residence, with her family by her side, on Friday, May 26, 2023 at 7:40 p.m. She had been battling cancer for the past 12 years.
Jennifer was born in Kankakee, Illinois, on November 17, 1983. She was the daughter of Teresa Ann (Alexander) Slevin, of Williamsport and the late Quintine "Quint" Dean Slevin. She was raised in rural Williamsport and attended Seeger Memorial High School. Jennifer was the restaurant manager at Harrison Hills Country Club until her health forced her to retire.
Jennifer was an active member of the Church of the Nazarene in West Lebanon where she ran the children's program "Kids for Jesus". She enjoyed crafts and playing purse bingo. She enjoyed nature, animals and especially the time spent with family. She always looked forward to her annual trips to Gatlinburg, TN to spend in the "Breath Taker Cabin" that they rented each year with family and friends.
On May 30, 2012, Jennifer married William Joel McMurtrie in Sieverville, TN.
She leaves behind her husband, Joel McMurtrie of 12 years along with two sons, PFC Corbin McMurtrie, U.S. Army and Michael McMurtrie, a senior at Seeger High School; her mother, Teresa Slevin, Williamsport; four sisters, Paula (Richard) Bixler, Attica; Elizabeth "Beth" (Bryan) Davis, West Point; Renee (Zach) Claypool, Hoopeston, IL and Kristi (Stephen) Ricketts, West Lebanon; two brothers, Joseph Kutemeier, Coal City, IL and LeRoy Riegle, Williamsport; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Thursday, June 1st from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Heather Handley officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Attica. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
