Attica - Jerry Lee Koekenberg, 69, Attica, passed away in the Franciscan Health Hospital, Indianapolis, on Sunday, May 25, 2025 at 6:34 a.m. following an 18 month battle with cancer.
Jerry was born in Williamsport, Indiana on July 1, 1955.  He was the youngest child of the late Emil and Lucille (Watkins) Koekenberg.  Jerry was a life resident of Attica, graduating from Attica High School in 1973.  Following graduation, Jerry began working for Harrison Steel Castings Company in Attica as a crane operator.  He later transferred to Nucor Steel in Crawfordsville where he operated an overhead crane until his retirement in 2019 due to his health.
Jerry formerly served as a volunteer fireman with the Attica Volunteer Fire Department.  He was an avid golfer and hunter and enjoyed spending his time outdoors mowing and landscaping. He also enjoyed auto racing and shared that bond with both family and friends.  His family was his life and he dearly loved to be with them and the sun rose and set with  his  grandchildren.
On October 19, 1974, Jerry married Vicki L. Ware in the Williamsport Christian Church.  He leaves behind his wife, Vicki of nearly 51 years along with two children, Sysily (Daniel) Miller, New Palestine, IN and Dusty (Sara) Koekenberg, Morristown, IN; four grandchildren, Whitney and Sydney Miller; Monroe and Priya Koekenberg.  He was preceded by his three siblings, John Koekenberg, Violet Slaughter and Karen White.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Sunday, June 1st, from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m.  Services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, June 2nd at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dan Jordan officiating.  Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Marie Canine Cancer Center, 1706 Lafayette Road, Crawfordsville, IN   47933.
