Independence - Jessie May (Tweedy) Bulington, 75 of Independence, passed away at her home in Independence on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at 1:20 p.m. with her family by her side.
Jessie was born in Glasgow, Scotland on April 12, 1949.  She was the daughter of the late Thomas Grahame and Jessie Sloane Shanks (Rammage) Tweedy.  Jessie was raised in Glasgow, Scotland and attended Hillington Primary School and graduated from Penilee Secondary School.  At the age of 20, Jessie became nanny to a family in Heidelberg, Germany and moved there to care for the family's children.  She later became a switchboard operator for the United States Army that was headquartered in Heidelberg.  This is where she met her future husband who was stationed in the U.S. Army in Heidelberg.
On December 16, 1972, Jessie married Robert "Bob" D. Bulington in the Nicholas Parish Church in Glasgow, Scotland.  They later moved to the United States in 1973 and resided in Independence.  Jessie worked at Sam Newmark Clothing Store in Attica from 1973-1977.  She later worked for Pine Creek Church Camp for four years.  While her children were growing up, Jessie entered Ivy Tech and received her certificate in Dietary Management.  She then began working at the West Lafayette High School and later for various nursing homes in the area.  During this time she became a naturalized citizen in 1991.  She went on to serve as a counselor at the Riverview United Methodist Church.  She was a member of the Independence River Spring Church.  She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post # 52 serving in different capacities of the legion.  She was named as Representative for the  Indiana American Legion Auxiliary of  the Indiana Veterans Home in West Lafayette.  She enjoyed baking and more recently had been working at Bossaer's Bakery near Riverside.
Jessie leaves behind her husband, Robert "Bob" Bulington of 51years along with two children, Grahame (Jessie Kerst) Bulington and Heather (Thadd Snedeker) Bulington, both of Independence; a brother, Douglas (Carol) Tweedy, Poulton-Le-Fylde, England; three grandchildren, Brenee Bulington, Shaelyn Meador and Bobbi Bulington; a great-granddaughter, Renesmey Acton.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, James Tweedy.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Sunday, July 21st from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 22nd at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Daniel Jordan officiating.  Burial will follow in the Independence Cemetery, Independence, IN.
