Attica - John Thomas "Tom" Dotson, 77, of Attica, died at 3:08 a.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Autumn Trace Senior Community, Attica.
John was born on December 19, 1942 in Lafayette. He was the son of the late John William and Pauline Marie (Hoste) Dotson. He grew up in Attica and graduated from Attica High School in 1960.
John married Helen Louise Johnson on August 12, 1967 in Attica. She preceded him in death on June 13, 2018.
John had served in the National Guard. He had worked in sales at Harrison Steel Casting Company in Attica for 45 years, retiring in 2006. He was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Attica. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and working in his yard. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren. He and his wife enjoyed playing cards and traveling with their good friends, Bob and Donna Wilkerson of Danville, IL.
Tom leaves behind a daughter, Tami (Todd) Mason, Attica; son, David (Kim) Dotson, Attica; four grandchildren, Andrew (companion-Kallin Spangler) Mason & Matthew Mason, Allison & Emily Dotson, all of Attica; a great-granddaughter, Addilyn "Addie" Mason; a sister, Julia (Carl) Covely, Lafayette; sister-in-law, Linda Carter, Virginia Beach, VA; and his nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. David Sims officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Memorial contributions may be made to the Paws 'n Claws Animal Shelter, Attica or to Autmun Trace Activities Department.  All visitors are required use of face masks and social distancing.
