Westville, IL - John Richard Payne Sr., 70, Westville, IL, passed away in the OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center, Danville, IL on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 1:25 a.m.
John was born in Crawfordsville on March 31, 1952. He was the son of the late George Reuben and Nina Hollis (Young) Payne. He had attended Fountain Central High School. After being disabled, he enjoyed scrapping for many years, as he was known as the "Junk Man." He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and any other activity that would keep him outdoors. He especially enjoyed visiting with his grandchildren.
He married Martha Hamond on August 9, 2009 in Covington.
He leaves behind his wife Martha, of Westville, IL; two sons, Rick Payne of Westville and Kevin (Jessica) Payne, Newtown; grandchildren, Jaylin, Autumn, Madison and Elijah Payne; a sister Kathy (Tom) Sanders, Waynetown; two brothers, Benny (Jackie) Payne, Roachdale, IN and Eric (Lib) Payne, Veedersburg; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Thelma McManomy.
A direct cremation is being performed by Maus Funeral Home, Attica. There will be no visitation or service. There will be a celebration of life held at 5 p.m. Friday, April 8th at the Sterling Christian Church, Veedersburg.
