Attica - John Kenneth Reed, 79, Attica, passed away in the Maple Park Village, Westfield, IN on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at 5:00 p.m.
John was born in Clinton, IN on February 15, 1945.  He was the son of the late Lloyd Darroll and Sarah Elizabeth (Wheeler) Reed.  John was raised in the Clinton area and attended the New Goshen School.  In 1968 John entered the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam.  At the time of his honorable discharge, John had attained the rank of Specialist 4.  After the service, John moved to Attica and began working at C & D Batteries.  He worked for 40 years at C & D and at the time of his retirement in 2010 he had been a forklift driver at C & D.
John was a life member of the V.F.W. Post # 3318 of Attica.  He was a collector of clocks and watches.  He enjoyed listening to country music and Elvis Presley.  He  especially enjoyed the time spent with his wife, Ruth.
On September 23, 1967, John married Ruth Ann Butler in the Attica Nazarene Church.  Sadly, Ruth preceded him in death on February 17, 2024.
John leaves behind the memories of his wife, Ruth along with a son, John K. Reed Jr., Attica; his sister, Lula Bradbury, Covington.  He was preceded in death by his three brothers, James "Jim" Dale Reed, Ronald Reed and Jury Reed along with a sister, Audrey June Covault.
Friends may gather at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Thursday, October 24th from 5:00 p.m. until the memorial service time at 7:00 p.m. with Brother Joel Whitehead officiating.  A military service will follow with the U.S. Army and American Legion Post # 52 of Attica.  Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Bethel Cemetery, Attica.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Research.
